Internet Access and the New Divide →
infoneer-pulse:
Telecommunications, which in theory should bind us together, has often divided us in practice. Until the late 20th century, the divide split those with phone access and those without it. Then it was the Web: in 1995 the Commerce Department published its first look at the “digital divide,” finding stark racial, economic and geographic gaps between those who could get online and...

The Acid Test
I took a tab of acid at around 9:20pm and it’s now 5:28am and here are the cliff notes of my experience.

I hungered to write in my journal
It most definitely was perspective altering

Is there any way to live in this society without implicating ourselves in the profound wrongs of the world? This is a serious question.
This is one of those posts she does that actually stops my mindless wandering.

Unproductive Allnighters
Don’t stay up all night just because you can find tons of interesting stuff on the internet. It’s a waste of time that should be spent sleeping, and seeing the sky slowly brighten is a horrendous feeling when you haven’t slept. There’s a quote from Buffy where Terra says something like, “it feels like you’re coming up on the wrong side of it” in reference...
Shitty Eulogy
Cameron was this kid on my water polo team. He was a light. Really. I know people say that when someone dies, but Cameron was one of those people who made everyones lives a little better for knowing him. He made me laugh, he was smart, he was kind. He was a good person. He was starting his first day of classes today. He fell out his dorm room window and now he’s dead. I only knew him for two...
Emotion/Thought Dump
That made me feel so much better. I’ve been whining to various people about this place, but having to articulate it to myself was a different experience. It really took the edge off, knowing exactly how I feel and putting it in front of me. I should remember how healthy a habit this is.
Placing a Marker
I haven’t written anything here for awhile, so I thought I’d place something down just to have something to refer to when I want to look back at my thoughts and emotions.
Here’s the deal children. I feel as if I’m in purgatory. Landmark has no social outlet whatsoever. I also seem to find that everyone here seems to be predetermined to life a life full of needless...

Unimpressed
I looked over my 50 posts and noticed a trend. Anytime I discuss something important I deliberately avoid conclusions. I don’t take sides. Should I be trying to make an impression through my observations by making strong conclusions about my life experiences? Or should I remain impartial, realizing conclusions I make are going to be without merit. I believe that I need to choose whether I...

Soft Opening
So this won’t be my full debrief of my NOLS course. I’m not sure I could even write that, at least not for awhile. Here is what I’ve noticed about myself upon returning.
1. I’m softer? more open at least. Fontanna said that my energy was closer to what it’s meant to be.
2. I am far more deeply affected by music.
3. I am more present in everyday life, Fontanna used...
It seems once past 30 a mustache is a social requirement in Vernal, UT
I guess I lost touch with what it’s like to be alone. I should try to remember that somehow. Maybe go camping somewhere for a bit. Traveling alone kind of elevates feelings of issolation, along with listening to music so you can’t hear what’s happening around you.

Sam Glass,
I didn’t want to reblog, nor am I sure you will read this. It is short, so you should. Tumblr has clearly evolved, maybe not in the best ways. It’s probably true that blogs who only post unoriginal content deserve less respect. However tumblr is still a place of self expression through original content. Having said that it is kind of important to also understand that, while...

Huzzah for Purpose!
I know I talk a good game about re-tooling myself while I’m home, but even though I have been moderately succesful at that I spend a lot of time wishing I was doing “real” things. Spring gives me all this energy as the sun is out more, in fact it’s close to manic levels and lately I haven’t had enough of an outlet. However! Tomorrow finally begins my Census work. At...

Gary Numan and healing gums
Today I finally felt human enough to get a bunch of things I have been putting off done, namely the yard work, fafsa forms and editing that monstrous paper. I also used my sculpting clay for the first time, lit some incense and contemplated my past, the last for only like 30 seconds because its uncomfortable. All of this was done under the musical guidance of gary numan. Thank you sir, for some...
I thought everyone had given up on glee already, but it seems according to the harsh views of tumblrs some people still need to be told it’s really bad. I for one think it’s actually worse in some respects than twilight. The only reason I don’t hate it the way I hate twilight is because it hasn’t destroyed vampires. Also the geeky singing is amusing
